Information for Coaches

At least 20 Coaches are invited to become a Far West Academy of Sport Coach each year.

Becoming a Far West Academy of Sport Coach is an exceptional way to truly change the lives of young people in our region and provide opportunities that would not otherwise be available.

Far West Academy of Sport Coaches are personally selected through knowledge and connection to schools, sports clubs and athletes. Nominations can also be made directly to the Far West Academy of Sport.

For their time and input, coaches are remunerated $260 per coach, per year.

Coaches are connected directly to the State Sporting Organisation of their sport via a close relationship with the Far West Academy of Sport.

Coaches are provided with curriculum, learning and teaching material for best practise sport coaching including strength and conditioning, specific skill training or development and game structures via the Far West Academy of Sport.


Requirements

The Far West Academy of Sport requires its coaches to be present and available at nominated Coaching Clinics and Professional Development Sessions throughout the year. There are typically five-eight of these events per sport. In addition, coaches are required to coach a team(s) of the Far West Academy of Sport, with the vision and intent to coach the team to its highest potential.


Measurement and Feedback

To assist the Far West Academy of Sport achieve its mission, coaches are required to exercise performance measurement of their Athletes from time-to-time, and provide feedback on Athletes in their care at any coaching, competition or development activities.

All Coaches are engaged with in a professional, high performance manner, and will be mentored by Far West Academy of Sport and supporting State Sporting Organisations according to their individual needs.
